Because aluminum material is easy to process, and has good visual effects and rich surface treatment methods, so it has been widely used in industry and daily life. Here we’d like to briefly describe six surface treatment methods of aluminum and aluminum alloy.

1. Sandblasting:

The process of cleaning and roughening the metal surface with the impact of high speed sand flow is called Sandblasting. This method of aluminum surface treatment can make the surface of the workpiece to obtain a certain degree of cleanliness and different roughness, so that the mechanical properties of the workpiece surface is improved, thus improving the fatigue resistance of the workpiece, increased the adhesion between workpiece and the coating, extending the durability of the coating, but also conducive to the leveling and decoration of the paint.

2. Polishing

The use of mechanical, chemical or electrochemical methods to reduce the surface roughness of the workpiece to obtain bright, flat surface processing methods. Polishing process is divided into: mechanical polishing, chemical polishing, electrolytic polishing. Aluminum parts with mechanical polishing + electrolytic polishing can be close to the stainless steel mirror effect.

3. Brushed

Scraping the aluminum plate with sandpaper repeatedly process is called brushed. Brushed can be divided into straight brushed, chaos brushed, rotary brushed, thread brushed. After brushed process, every silk mark can be seen obviously, so matte metal surface looks a little shiny.

4. Dia-cutting

The diamond cutter is reinforced in the high-speed rotation of the carving machine spindle to cutting parts, it can produce local highlight area on the part surface. The highlight effect is affected by the speed of the milling bit. The faster the bit speed is, the brighter of the highlight area.

5. Anodizing

Anodizing refers to the electrochemical oxidation of metals or alloys, aluminum and its alloys in the corresponding electrolyte and specific process conditions, due to the role of external current, forms a layer of oxide film on the part surface. Anodizing not only can solve the aluminum surface hardness, wear resistance and other defects, but also to extend the life of aluminum and enhance the aesthetic degree, it has become an indispensable part of aluminum surface treatment, and it is currently the most widely used and very successful Process.

6. Double colors anodizing

Double colors anodizing means making two different colors in one workpiece by anodizing. Because of the complexity of the process, double colors anodizing cost is higher, but through the contrast between the two colors, it can reflect the part unique appearance.
